20th Birthday Celebrations

The Craigmillar Books for Babies project is celebrating 20 years in the Craigmillar community! You'll find information about the birthday party on our Events page.

Throughout the year we will also be hosting the following events to mark this very special anniversary:

Craigmillar Books for Babies Exhibition launch

There will be an exhibition launch at the White House in Craigmillar on Monday 8 Ocotober, 10am-12noon.

On the week beginning October 22, you can also see the exhibition at the Scottish Parliament, hosted by Ash Denham MSP.

Favourite Nursery Rhymes and Songs 2

We have produced a commemorative booklet of favourite nursery rhymes and songs ('Favourite Nursery Rhymes and Songs 2'). We will also host a storytelling workshop with our Storyteller in Residence, Eric Brennan, as part of Craigmillar Book Festival in November.

10K run for fundraising

Our Development Worker, Michelle Jones, completed a 10K run in June this year to raise money for our 20th birthday celebrations. She raised 1000 to buy all the babies and children who come to Baby and Toddler Rhymetime a Craigmillar Books for Babies t-shirt.

Myra Robertson Baby Book of the Year 2018

We will be asking everyone what books they would like to go into next year's One Year Book Bag. If your child has recently turned one and you haven't received your book bag, please call Michelle on 0131 621 2621 to arrange collection.

National Lottery Award

We have received a National Lottery Award from the Big Lottery Fund!

Big Lottery Fund Chair, Maureen McGinn, said: "I am delighted that Craigmillar Books for Babies has been successful in securing a Big Lottery Fund grant. The funding will make a big difference where it is needed most. I wish Craigmillar Books for Babies every success as it goes on to develop and expand its project for the benefit of their local community."

Raising Children with Confidence

This seven-week course aims to give parents and carers the chance to explore emotional well-being and how we can best promote it in ourselves and our children. Drawing on the latest findings and research it helps explain why what you do makes a difference.

If you live in Craigmillar, Niddrie, Magdalene or Bingham and have a child under the age of 4 we would love you to join us at our next course.

We provide a crèche.

Please contact Michelle on 0131 621 2621 for more information.

Newsletters Online

Craigmillar Books for Babies publishes a quarterly newsletter with information on events, rhymes, recommended books and much more. Contact the project for details.
